Depth of Field - General Rule of Thumb: PORTRAITS and objects such as FLOWERS: Try to use a smaller number F Stop (f 2.8 or 4) which creates a softer (blurred) background and allows your main subject to be the focusing point.  LANDSCAPE: Try to use as large of F Stop (f 16 or 22) as you can so that more of the scene is as sharp as possible.

F-Stop -  a number that indicates the relative size opening of a lens.  And works in conjunction with your shutter speed & ISO setting to give you a proper exposure.  The Smaller the f-stop number, the Larger the opening which means More light is let in for an exposure.  The Larger the number, the Less the opening which means that Less light is let in.

Leading Lines - Lead your viewers through your photograph... could be done with roads, paths, rivers, coastline, lines, patterns, anything that leads the viewer into the subject.
